Buzztime Guru Winner Wins at Opening Day

Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack is not really a sporting event. It's a social scene. An extravagant social scene involving 40,000 people. Sure, there are horse races through out the day and people win money and people lose money. However, the races are not the main reason people go to Opening Day. The majority of people go to Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack simply because it IS Opening Day! Women wear huge, over the top classy hats, and pretty dresses. Men deck themselves out in suits, and a fedora can be spotted every 10 yards. Going to Opening day is truly an experience, and that is why Buzztime was happy to send Brent Reid (a.k.a SLAPPY), the Sports Guru Giveaway Winner, to the track to take in the full experience and energy of the day.

Brent and his guest enjoyed great VIP clubhouse seats in the middle of the all action (Horse races and people watching) and were given two tickets to eat at Cafe De Sol- a brilliantly delicious restaurant, in the sun, at the park. Not surprisingly, Brent immediately found himself on the lucky side of life:

"We were one of the first people to gain access to the clubhouse area and found a nice little spot right at the finish line , close to the betting stations, and close to the beer cart. Both of us won on the first race! Which pretty much paid for the rest of our day." -Brent

Naturally, with any major social scene, the number of people will always pose a problem when it comes time to LEAVE said event. However, at Buzztime we plan ahead and take care of our prize winners, so we made sure to get him a hotel close to the venue. It paid major dividends:

'We eventually made it down to the restaurant by race 8 or 9, had a quick bite and decided we were burnt out. We walked back to the hotel and were glad we were in walking distance because the local police were out in full force and it took hours and hours for that parking lot to clear out!'- Brent

In the end, fun was the order of the day and it was surely had by all who attended, including, and especially Brent.
