BuzzSpeak Lesson #1

Tuesday, 18 January 2011 10:53

Lone WolfThe more you play Buzztime, the more of these you'll come across. Below are some of the most common species you will find while playing Trivia at your local watering hole:

Playing the piano: Having to change your answer, in CD style questions, after every clue.

Related: Typing - Same as piano playing, but without the style.

Additional Info - The Piano Player is not the Piano Man a la Billy Joel, albeit he or she may sing you a melody.

Lone wolf: Person who is not playing, but still feels the need to howl out their answers, right or wrong. Lone wolfs can some times form "wolf packs" dangerous creatures who can wreak havoc on your trivia score.

Related: Trivia Voyeurs - People who don't play, but watch you play. They usually end up saying something like "I thought EVERYONE knew that!" after you miss an answer.

Additional Info - We suggest handing these people their own Playmakers as you may find a new and worthy competitor, or someone to make your score look even better.

Precall: Calling out answers before the answer has been shown. Best if used with an incorrect answer - even better if the answer doesn't appear as one of the choices.

Related: Guess Yeller - Someone who loudly and assuredly states an answer, which turns out to be wrong.

Related: Soundbagging - Deliberately shouting out wrong answers.

Additional Info - These people can often be bribed (hint: buy them a drink and have them sit next to your competition).

Until the next lesson… happy playing!
