Restaurant Chains: Promotions That Work
You know there’s a lot of competition out there for consumers’ dining dollars. Your customers can choose to eat their meals anywhere, so how do you convince them to pick your chain restaurant? They key is in your promotion. By following these tips and taking some advice from popular chains, you can put your restaurant chain on the path to success!
Of course social media is on the list. The best restaurant chains know the importance of social media. McDonalds, one of the largest restaurant chains in the world, uses Twitter to spotlight deals, post pictures of menu items, and recognize followers. At the very least, be sure to have a Facebook page and use it to offer special deals, coupons, or freebies to your followers. If you can offer something to your customers, they’re much more likely to “like” you…and visit your restaurant.
Contests are a great way to engage customers and make them feel like they’re involved in the restaurant. Consider letting your customers name a new sandwich on your menu. The winning entrant gets a gift card. Meanwhile, you’ve made sure that tons of customers know about your menu offerings.
Try offering prix fixe meals at your chain. For example, Applebee’s currently offers a “2 for $20” deal. Customers can choose one appetizer and two entrees from a limited menu and pay just $20. Other restaurants offer a similar deal, with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert (again, from a limited menu) for one set price. This is a great way to make your customers feel like they’re saving money, taking control of their meal, and “indulging” by ordering an appetizer, dessert, or both.
You probably know about Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos taco, right? That’s because everyone’s heard about it—it’s an incredibly specific, unusual menu item that people can’t help but notice. When you give people something they can’t get anywhere else, it creates a lot of buzz and brings in customers. Of course, that’s not to say you have to incorporate popular snack foods into your menu items, but try giving your customers something special!
Specific offers for specific customers.
You might offer a special of the day for everyone, but think about specific groups of customers. Will there be families in your restaurant? If so, consider a “kids eat free” deal. Are you a popular lunch spot? Offer specific deals for the lunch crowd. And, of course, don’t forget about happy hour! Think about your customer base and see if you have any other pockets to target.
Make sure your restaurant is the first one customers think of when it’s time to go out to dinner. It may be a crowded market, but with these promotion tips you can make your restaurant stand out!
