March 7, 2019 Trivia for Cash Competition Increases Gameplay by 27% NTN Buzztime Launches Latest Event: Trivia Madness for March
CARLSBAD, Calif., March 7, 2019 – NTN Buzztime, Inc. (NYSE American: NTN) is building on the success of the Trivia for Cash competition format with the rollout of Trivia Madness. Every day in March, Buzztime is giving away over $100 in cash and prizes to the 10 highest scorers in Buzztime Sports trivia. Qualifying Buzztime Sports games are 30 minutes and run daily at 4:30 PT / 5:30 MT / 6:30 CT / 7:30 ET at all 2,600+ Buzztime locations.
Buzztime Sports covers the latest sports headlines, so it’s the ultimate gameday companion. With a chance to be one of 10 daily Trivia Madness winners in March, players have yet another reason to visit a Buzztime venue. In fact, the competition is driving in players on days or at times they wouldn’t normally go:
“Our team has never played on Sunday before, but we sure did after I (with the team’s help) won the $1,000 prize during the January Trivia for Cash event…Sunday Funday. When we told the waitress and manager what we had won, we noticed that the service even improved! Keep it up, Buzztime!” said Thomas Hoobler, a Buzztime player at Mad River Bar and Grille in New York, NY.
Trivia for Cash kicked off in December 2018, with additional competitions in January and February that delivered positive results. February, Trivia for Cash: Awards Season delivered a 27% overall increase in gameplay and a 21% boost in new player registrations.
“Our skill-based Trivia for Cash competitions with prizing are delivering results on all fronts. We’re continuing to engage current players, attract new ones, and increase foot traffic into over 2,600 partner locations. Trivia for Cash: Trivia Madness gives even more players – over 300 total – the thrilling experience of winning in a national trivia competition,” said Ram Krishnan, NTN Buzztime CEO.,” said Ram Krishnan, NTN Buzztime CEO.
With Trivia for Cash, Buzztime keeps the core concept the same: play your best, and you could win cash and bragging rights in this skill-based competition. Each month, Buzztime switches the qualifying games to strategically coincide with current televised sports and entertainment events to optimize engagement impact. For example, Sunday Funday in January helped drive customers into businesses for pro football playoffs. Awards Season highlighted Pop Culture and Movie Night Trivia and tied into the major award shows during February.
“Trivia for Cash incentivizes players to choose a Buzztime location for watching their favorite live TV events with a chance to win prizes for competing in trivia that matches their interests. Ultimately, it’s an enhanced viewing experience for players – and adds value to their visit at any of our partner locations,” continued Krishnan.
Due to the overall increase in gameplay, Buzztime’s digital-out-of-home (DOOH) advertising partners are also benefiting from a lift in impressions. Their branding messages are being seen more frequently, by more players on 15,000 screens and 65,000 Buzztime gaming tablets when players are excited and engaged in the competition.
