Buzztime promotion helps establishments increase patron visit frequency, length of stay and overall spend
CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 11, 2015 – NTN Buzztime, Inc. (NYSE MKT: NTN) announced the winner of its popular Buzztime’s Smartest Bar contest today: The Concert Pub in Houston. The Concert Pub, which won the coveted title from a pool of 1,674 other locations across the country.
“We are thrilled that this year’s Smartest Bar competition was such a resounding success,” said Ram Krishnan, Buzztime CEO. “Once again, patrons showed just how much they love Buzztime, which translated into longer stays, more money spent, and lots of return visits. Venues that participated attracted new business and increased loyalty with their existing customers.”
Buzztime’s Smartest Bar competition gathers trivia enthusiasts nationwide to prove once and for all that their bar’s collective brain power is unmatched. Players compete head-to-head across six categories and four rounds. Every time Buzztime has run its Smartest Bar the promotion provides a highly entertaining and engaging trivia experience for patrons, while also driving significant traffic for venues.
This year, the Concert Pub, “Houston’s Ultimate Live Music” Sports Bar and Grill, accumulated the most points and took home first prize. The venue also experienced a significant uptake in business during contest days.
“Sunday nights are usually fairly slow for us, but with Buzztime’s Smartest Bar competition our Sundays became more and more popular,” said John Milam, general manager of The Concert Pub. “During the four week competition, new Buzztime players increased 8% and gameplay grew by 72% compared to typical Sundays. In addition to more patrons on game nights, we were excited players frequently arrived up to 1.5 hours early and continue to play long after the competition ended, which led to larger bills with more food and drinks.”
Bars across the country benefitted significantly from the engagement that Buzztime provides. On average, participating locations saw a 41% lift in gameplay.
“Ordinarily, Sunday mornings are busy for Rockin Crepes with players coming in from 11 am – 2pm to play Buzztime,” said Frank Pestarino, general manager of Rockin Crepes, which won second place. “However, with Buzztime’s Smartest Bar Competition, Sundays have become an all-day event. Gameplay increased during all four weeks of the Sunday competition. We were excited to see that players were coming in all day to play Buzztime, which increased their food and drinks bills. We even had players coming from 30 miles away to help us try to become the Buzztime’s Smartest Bar!”
This is the fourth year of Buzztime’s Smartest Bar competition. The Concert Pub joins the Buffalo Wild Wings® North Rock in Wichita, Kansas and Houston’s Mezzanine Lounge as winners.
