Buzztime - Business Bar Trivia by Buzztime

Viral videos themselves have been around for a while, but using them as a marketing tool is something fairly new – and it’s genius. They fall in the same category as Super Bowl commercials, but may even be more powerful and memorable. Viral videos are sure to create attention and buzz for your restaurant.

Why Viral Videos?

When they hit, they spread like a wild fire. They become a pop culture phenomenon sure to be seen by the millions. We’ve all seen “Charlie Bit My Finger,” with 529 million views. Even music videos can go viral. “Gangnam Style” became the most viewed video ever on YouTube with over 1 billion views.

Viral videos get around, so why not take advantage. New ones are catching on every day, so don’t think you’ve missed out.

Toppers Pizza, a pizza place that has been around for 60 years reenacted the ever so popular “Harlem Shake” in the funny video below. Currently the video has over 9,500 views. Not nearly the amount of the above examples, but still great exposure for their business and brand!

What Platforms?

YouTube is the number one place to find and upload videos. However, some prefer a similar, but newer and more professional style video site called Vimeo. The Vimeo community is smaller, but more dedicated to quality.

Another new platform with a unique take on videos is Vine. Vine is a mobile app that allows users to make six second long videos, with the advantage of making as many cuts as you want along the way. It has truly taken the video world by storm. Vine video’s can easily be shared on your social networks and also embedded in blog posts. A clever example from Tropicana shows a quick story of two oranges:

Even more recently, Instagram launched a new video feature that allows users to create 15 second long videos. For more tips on how to utilize this new feature, visit our recent post on 5 Ways Restaurants Can Use Instagram Videos.
